COL BOYS: Mountain Vista and Highlands Ranch Win Big

Junior attackman Mitch Nelson registered a game-high nine points on five goals and four assists to lead Mountain Vista to a 17-8 victory over Columbine in a Colorado High School Activities Association game Tuesday night.
Senior attackman Nick Hillier added seven points on two goals and five assists, and sophomore attackman Jake Suttman scored four goals to help the Golden Eagles bounce back from their season-opening loss to No. 8 Kent Denver.
Sophomore middie Christian Thomas and senior middie Jake Hayungs each scored a pair of goals, junior middie Dan Zamora finished with a goal and an assist and sophomore middie Mack Elliott scored once to round out the offense for Mountain Vista.
Columbine (0-1) lost its season opener.
Mountain Vista led 4-2 at the end of the first quarter, 9-4 at halftime and 14-7 going into the fourth quarter.
“I feel like we’re starting to come together,” Mountain Vista head coach Jose Trujillo said. “Offensively, we’re starting to gel.”
HIGHLANDS RANCH 21, EAGLECREST 1
Joe Hansley registered a game-high six points on three goals and three assists to lead the high-scoring Falcons to their second straight win.
Tyler Doskins added five points on three goals and two assists, John Gratrix had four points on three goals and one assist and Chris Nolan finished with four points on two goals and two assists for Highlands Ranch (2-0), which has scored 37 goals in its first two games.
Grant Arthurs had four points on a goal and three assits, Jordan Smith scored two goals and added one assist, and in all 12 different players scored for the Falcons.
Eaglecrest (2-1) had its season-opening, two-game winning streak snapped.
