MEN: More Than 31,000 Watch Air Force Drop 8th Straight

April 24th, 2010

Logan Schuss had a game-high four points on two goals and two assists to lead Ohio State to a 10-6 victory over Air Force in an NCAA Division I ECAC game Saturday morning in Columbus, Ohio.

Jeff Tundo added three points on a goal and two assists, James Green scored a pair of goals, and Mike Smail, Mario Ventiquattro, Mike Pires and Eddie Bambino all scored once to help the Buckeyes (7-6, 3-3 ECAC) win for the second time in their last three games.

In the cage, goalie Brandon Freeman saved 11 shots.

In defeat, middie Zack Carroll scored a game-high three goals, middie Vinny Sandtorv added a pair and Paul Gaski scored once for last-place Air Force (1-11, 0-5), which has lost eight straight.

Ohio State outshot Air Force 40-31 and won the ground-ball battle 29-21.

The game was tied, 3-3, at the end of the first quarter and 5-5 at halftime. But, like has happened so many times this season, Air Force faded in the second half.

Air Force led 6-5 after Gaski scored with 5:44 remaining in the third quarter. But Ohio State finished the day on a five-goal run to deal Air Force yet another close loss, this time in front of a crowd of 31,078.

The Falcons have lost nine games by four goals or less.
