NEB BOYS: Millard West Deals Creighton Prep First Loss, 10-6
April 22nd, 2010
Senior attackman Carl Vennerstrom scored a game-high five goals to lead Millard West to a 10-6 upset victory over previously-unbeaten Creighton Prep in a Nebraska High School Lacrosse Association game Wednesday afternoon.
Senior attackman Connor Swanson added a co-game-high five points on three goals and two assists to help the Wildcats (9-2) win their fifth straight. Senior middie Justin Mauer and senior attackman Zach Roth each scored once to round out the offense.
In the cage, senior goalie Tyler Meuret saved 16 shots.
In defeat, Peter Stoll scored three goals and had an assist for Creighton Prep (8-1), which had its eight-game winning streak snapped and lost for the first time since it fell to Millard West at last year’s state championship game.
Millard West led 3-1 at halftime and took control with a five-goal third quarter. The Wildcats took an 8-4 lead into the final 12 minutes and continued its strong play down to the finish.
“It’s not a surprise to me,” Millard West head coach Doug Stewart said. “We just got to team concepts; played solid defense, winning face-offs, working the ball around and possessing on offense. We also did a much better job killing penalties.”

The score was 10-7 not 10-6
Prep got a goal by Junior Attackman James West with 2 seconds left. Not that it mattered. Great game Millard West.
Wiped off.
Ref came up to the cage after the goal was scored and wiped it off. Sorry to be a buzz kill.
Scorer's table didn't see that.
It went into the books as a goal.
