TEX BOYS: Michael Lintner Commits to Roanoke College
December 12th, 2009
Houston Episcopal senior defenseman/long-stick middie Michael Lintner has committed to play NCAA Division III lacrosse at Roanoke College.
Lintner said he also considered Ithaca, McDaniel, Ursinus and Randolph-Macon before he settled on the Virginia-based school.
“I liked the way they ran practice and the team chemistry, the way they all worked together no matter what grade,” Lintner said. “And they have exactly what I want to study.”
By taking his game to the college level, Lintner will be following in his father’s footsteps. David Lintner was a defenseman and long-stick middie at Cornell from 1979 to 1982, Michael Lintner said.
“He always was teaching me new things and playing catch with me in the back yard,” Michael Lintner said. “Even in high school, he’s always been telling me things I can do to get better. He’s like another teacher.”
Lintner said the transition to the college game will be difficult, but it’s a challenge he’s prepared to meet.
“It’s definitely going to be a big jump,” he said. “I’m definitely going to have to improve and step up, but I think if I work hard I can compete at the next level.”
