AZ BOYS: Michael Giffen Commits to Mesa State College
January 22nd, 2010
Chandler senior middie-attackman Michael Giffen has committed to play NCAA Division II lacrosse at Mesa State College.
Giffen said he also considered Texas, Arizona, Arizona State, Berry College and New England before settling on the Grand Junction, Colo.-based school. Giffen said he chose Mesa State because he liked the area, liked the coach and wanted to play NCAA lacrosse.
Giffen is one of three players from Chandler and one of six players from Arizona to commit to Mesa State.
“I liked the offer there, and the area too,” he said. “I’ve heard they have good academics, and we’ve got some family friends who went there and said it was a blast.”
As for making the transition to the college game, Giffen said he believes he’ll catch on eventually.
“It’ll probably be a little rough at first, like anything,” he said. “But once I get into the rhythm of things, get used to the weather and games start, it should go pretty well.”
