Caddo Magnet has named Michael Brand as the new head coach of its boys varsity lacrosse team.

Brand, 29, replaces Steve Martino, who was fired three games into the season.

A native of Buffalo, N.Y., Brand played four seasons of college lacrosse at the junior college, NCAA Division III and men’s club level at Herkimer Community College and Buffalo State College, he said.

Brand is currently the head coach of the MCLA Division II team at Centenary College, which is 1-5 in its first season. Brand has served in the past as an assistant under Martino at Caddo Magnet.

“They asked me to step in and take over for the rest of the season,” Brand said. “The kids are really excited about lacrosse, and the board wanted someone who could step in right away. We’re really excited about the rest of the season.”
