Senior attackman Max Roach registered a game-high six points on two goals and four assists to lead Division I Austin to a 13-4 victory over Division II Stony Point in a Texas High School Lacrosse League Central District game Monday night.

Senior attackman Billy Bedillion added four goals, senior attackman Deron Turner had three points on two goals and an assist and junior middie Will Merritt finished with three points on a goal and two assists to help the Maroons (2-0) win their second straight to start the season.

Junior middie Will Schuhmacher had a goal and an assist, and three other players scored once to round out the offense for Austin.

In defeat, Brad Johnson scored a team-high two goals for Stony Point, which fell to 4-2. The Tigers have lost two of their last three games, with both losses having come against Division I competition.

Austin led 4-2 at the end of the first quarter and 7-4 at halftime before shutting the Tigers out over the final 24 minutes. Austin led 11-4 going into the fourth quarter.

“We played well against their zone,” Austin head coach Andy Garrigan said. “We came in thinking we were playing against a DII team, and we played that way. We didn’t play to our level. I thought we could have played better.”
