Fort Collins Unified senior middie Max Hittsdorf has committed to play NCAA Division III lacrosse at Colorado College.

Hittsdorf is entering his fourth season on the Fort Collins Unified varsity team, and he helped the Vipers win the Colorado state championship as a freshman in 2007.

“Max has fit a role every year going back to his freshman year,” Fort Collins Unified head coach Carey Smith said. “This year is finally his time to step out of the shadows. He’s a great dodger, shoots well with both hands and is just a really hard-working kid.”

Smith added that he believes Hittsdorf will find his place at the college level, just like he has in high school.

“I think he’ll find a role and he’ll thrive, wherever they put him,” Smith said.
