MEN: Brigham Young Names Matt Schneck New Head Coach
Brigham Young University has named Matt Schneck as the new head coach of the school’s men’s lacrosse program.
Schneck takes over for Jason Lamb, who was fired last month after leading the Cougars to three MCLA Division I national championships. Schneck served as an assistant under Lamb for eight seasons.
“Obviously, we are going to miss Coach Lamb,” Brigham Young senior middie Elliott Grow said in a news release.
“What he did for the program cannot be overstated. But, going forward, the choice was clear very early on that Coach Schneck was the right person to not only maintain the proud tradition of BYU lacrosse, but to help us advance the program. Coach Schneck not only has the ability to connect with the players better than anyone I know, but he also has the drive to win the national championship every year.”
Schneck is a Brigham Young graduate and played football and lacrosse at the Provo, Utah-based school. The Connecticut native was a starting defenseman on the Cougars’ 1997 MCLA national championship lacrosse team.
