LOU BOYS: Loyola-Shreveport Too Much For Caddo Magnet

March 3rd, 2010

Senior attackman J.T. Terzia scored a game-high five goals to lead Loyola-Shreveport to a 9-4 victory over Caddo Magnet in a Louisiana High School Lacrosse League game Tuesday night.

Junior attackman Austin Mathias added a pair of goals, senior middie Chris Volentine had a goal and an assist and senior defenseman John Parker scored once for the Flyers (1-2), who snapped a season-opening, two-game losing streak.

Loyola trailed 1-0 at the end of the first quarter and led 3-2 at halftime before taking control in the second half. The Flyers led 7-2 at the end of the third quarter, a spread they increased to as many as six goals on two occasions in the fourth, at 8-2 and 9-3.

“We played well,” said Loyola assistant coach Kevin Crumrine, who filled in for head coach Mike DeVita on Tuesday. “We need to be a little smarter in how we play. It was a very good test for our team, and now we’ve got a big weekend ahead of us.”

In defeat, senior middie Stewart Patterson scored a team-high two goals for Caddo Magnet, which fell to 0-2.

“We were missing some guys and had some injuries, and we’re just real thin at the midfield,” Caddo Magnet head coach Michael Brand said. “We kind of ran out of gas. Fortunately, this game didn’t mean a lot. The next game will be the district game, so we can go back, look at the film, get healthy and make up for our mistakes.”
