March 17th, 2010
Senior attackman Taylor Lindsey scored a game-high four goals to lead American Fork to an 11-9 victory over Jordan in a Utah High School Lacrosse League Division I game Tuesday afternoon.
Sophomore attackman Dallin Lindsey scored three goals, senior middie Chanson Miller added a pair and senior attackman Jake Cooper finished with a goal and an assist to help the Cavemen (2-0) win their second straight to start the season.
Junior defenseman Kaiana Miller scored once to round out the offense for American Fork.
Defensively, senior goalie Josh Berrett saved eight shots.
In defeat, sophomore attackman Mitchell Woodhead had two goals and an assist, junior attackman Harry Robbins finished with a goal and two assists and senior middie Ian Spendlove dished three assists for Jordan (0-3), which lost its third straight to start the season.
Jordan led 3-1 at the end of the first quarter, but American Fork reeled off nine straight goals during the second and third quarters to take control. The Cavemen led 5-3 at halftime and later took a 10-3 lead after Taylor Lindsey scored with 2:53 to play in the third quarter.
Jordan responded with four unanswered goals to pull within 10-7, but Dallin Lindsey scored with 7:52 to play to make it a four-goal game. Jordan didn’t pull to within two until there were just six seconds remaining in regulation.
“I think it’s a step in the right direction,” American Fork head coach Grant Cotterell said. “It’s a good sign that we can have such a let down n the fourth quarter and still win, but we obviously can’t keep dong that the whole season.”
