AS: Late Goal Lifts LA Mavericks Past San Diego RC Elite, 7-6

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. -- Middie Zack Fixen scored the game-winning goal with about a minute remaining to give the Los Angeles Mavericks a 7-6 victory over San Diego RC Elite in an Adrenaline Shootout South Swell Group 2 first-round game Thursday afternoon at Sonoma State University.
Fixen scored on a jump-shot from about 12 yards to give the Mavericks (1-0) a thrilling win in their tournament opener. Fixen finished with a team-high three goals to help lead Los Angeles.
San Diego RC Elite (0-1) fell in its tournament opener.
Attackman Dakota Randall registered a team-high four points on two goals and two assists for the Mavericks.
“It was very exciting. I’m happy,” Fixen said. “I had a one-on-one, took him to the hole, beat him and scored.
“It’s very important (to win the first game),” Fixen added. “It sets the tone for the whole tournament.”
