May 26th, 2010
Senior attackman Blake Heim registered a game-high six points on four goals and two assists to lead Lake Oswego to an 18-5 victory over Tigard in an Oregon High School Lacrosse Association second-round playoff game Tuesday night.
Senior attackman Chris Zinsmeister added five points on four goals and one assist, and senior attackman John Salvo scored four goals to help the Lakers (14-3) advance to the state quarterfinals. Lake Oswego has won 10 of its last 11 games and is on a 10-game winning streak against Oregon competition.
Lake Oswego will next face defending state champion Oregon Episcopal School, which beat Tualatin, 14-4, Tuesday night.
“They’re a good team, the defending state champions,” Lake Oswego head coach Peter Lamb said. “Our guys will hopefully be prepared for the game.”
On Tuesday, sophomore attackman Billy Able scored twice, junior long-stick middie Connel Pritchard and senior middie Nick Remlinger each added a goal and an assist, and two others scored once to round out the offense for Lake Oswego.
Tigard finished the season 7-10.
Lake Oswego led 5-0 at the end of the first quarter, 10-1 at halftime and 14-1 at the end of the third quarter.
“I thought we came out hard,” Lamb said. “Our goal is to win the state title, and everyone knows it starts with the first game. We had to get through the first one.”
