MO BOYS: Ladue Advances to Division II Championship Game
May 27th, 2010
Senior attackman Sam Hurster and senior middie Jeff Pellett each registered a co-team-high four points on three goals and one assist to lead top-seeded Ladue to a 12-8 victory over fourth-seeded Pembroke Hill in a Missouri Scholastic Lacrosse Association Division II semifinal Wednesday night at Lindenwood University.
Senior middie Cameron Millstone scored three goals, and sophomore middie Chandler Millstone added a pair of goals to help the Rams (15-1) win their 10th straight and advance to the Division II state championship game for the first time in program history.
Ladue will next face the winner of Thursday night’s Clayton-Columbia Rock Bridge semifinal in the title game on Saturday morning at 11 a.m., CDT, at Lindenwood.
“We’re excited to have our first chance to win a state title and are looking forward to seeing who wins the game tomorrow night,” Ladue head coach Jason Fauss said.
On Wednesday, senior attackman Jack Rohan scored once to round out the offense for Ladue.
Pembroke Hill had its 10-game winning streak snapped and finished the season 14-4.
The Raiders got off to a good start and took a 3-2 lead into the second quarter, but Ladue recovered in time to turn it around. The Rams led 6-5 at halftime, 10-6 at the end of the third quarter and maintained at least a three-goal edge throughout the final 12 minutes.
“We came out slow, but we kept our composure and got back into the game in the second quarter,” Fauss said. “Our defense played fantastic, shutting down their All-State players, and our seniors on offense stepped up and took charge of the game when we needed them to.”
