MEN/TEX HS: Kinkaid to Host Notre Dame vs. Fairfield in March

The Kinkaid School in Houston will host a regular-season, NCAA Division I lacrosse game, with proceeds going to charity, the school has announced.

The first-annual, “Beating Cancer With a Stick Lacrosse Classic,” will pit the University of Notre Dame against Fairfield on Saturday, March 13, 2010. The event will help raise money for The Children’s Cancer Hospital at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, organizers said.

This will be the first NCAA Division I lacrosse game in Houston since 1970, when Johns Hopkins played Navy.

Also participating in the event will be four high school programs: Kinkaid, Houston Episcopal, Gulliver Prep (Fla.) and Palo Verde (Nev.).

“This is going to be a groundbreaking event for greater Houston lacrosse and a phenomenal opportunity to raise money,” Kinkaid head coach Jeremy Platt said in a news release.
