Plano West senior goalie Jonathon O’Reilly has committed to play NCAA Division II lacrosse at St. Anselm College.

O’Reilly said he also considered the NCAA Division I program at Bellarmine but went with Manchester, N.H.-based school because it was a better fit for him academically.

“I really wanted to go to a school that had a good program within my major,” O’Reilly said. “They have a good mathematics program, and that was the deciding factor.”

The Wisconsin-born O’Reilly conceded that going from the Dallas region to northern New England will be quite a change, both environmentally and lacrosse-wise. But it’s a challenge for which he is ready, he said.

“I think it will be rough at the beginning, but once I get used to the new pace of college lacrosse, I should do just fine,” O’Reilly said. “I’m extremely excited.”
