Senior attackman Joey Wippold registered a game-high seven points on two goals and five assists to lead Strake Jesuit to a 14-4 victory over Taylor in a Texas High School Lacrosse League South District game Friday night.

Senior attackman Chris Duin added five goals, senior middie Patrick O’Meara had three points on a goal and two assists and senior attackman George Pepi scored twice to help the Division I Crusaders (3-0) stay unbeaten.

Four other players had a goal apiece to round out the scoring for Strake Jesuit.

Defensively, senior goalie Philip Richard saved nine shots.

In defeat, four players all scored once for Division II Taylor (0-1), which dropped its season opener.

Strake Jesuit led 2-0 at the end of the first quarter, 7-3 at halftime and 10-4 at the end of the third quarter.

“We’re playing great on-ball defense and creating transition from the defensive side,” Strake Jesuit head coach Mike Block said. “We’re doing a great job pressing out and getting after people.”
