MEN: Jason Lamb Named Adams State Director of Lacrosse

February 12th, 2010

Fledgling NCAA Division II lacrosse program Adams State has made its first hire.

Jason Lamb, who led MCLA Division I Brigham Young to years of success at the club level, has been named the school’s first Director of Lacrosse. Lamb will oversee both the men’s and women’s programs that will begin play in the spring of 2011.

“We are excited to grow lacrosse at the NCAA Division II level in the West and someone with his passion, drive and expertise makes him an ideal person to lead us in those endeavors,” Adams State Athletic Director Larry Mortensen said in a prepared statement.

Lamb coached at Brigham Young from 1995 to 2009, compiling a 213-69 record. He led the Cougars to three MCLA Division I national championships and seven Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference titles. He was named MCLA Coach of the Year in 2006.

“I’m privileged to be given this responsibility and am ready and excited to grow the sport at Adams State, while advancing the game throughout the NCAA Division II level,” Lamb said in a news release.

Lamb has a bit of catching up to do, particularly on the men’s side. While the Alamosa, Colo.-based school has just made its first hire, cross-state rival Mesa State in Grand Junction has already picked up 27 commitments, including from some of the top players in the West, for its fledgling Division II program.

Mesa State will also start play in the spring of 2011.
