Chaparral rising senior long-stick middie Jake Bolwar has de-committed to NCAA Division I UMBC and has instead decided to stay home and play MCLA Division I lacrosse at Arizona State University, Sun Devils head coach Chris Malone said.

Bolwar, the No. 18 ranked junior in the last WSL Elite 25 individual player rankings, had been sought after by several NCAA Division I programs before giving a verbal commitment to play for the Catonsville, Md.-based school.

“We’re obviously very excited that Jake’s committed to us,” Arizona State head coach Chris Malone said. “I thought he was signed, sealed and delivered to UMBC. Obviously, he had some second thoughts. He believes the best thing for him to do is stay in the state of Arizona and attend Arizona State University.”

An attempt to reach Bolwar on Wednesday night was unsuccessful.
