Westview senior middie Holly Hayes has signed a national letter of intent to play NCAA Division I lacrosse at St. Mary’s College of California.

Hayes said she also considered Drexel, Vermont, Wooster and Earlham College before settling on the Moraga, Calif.-based school.

“It was closer to home then the other schools I applied to,” Hayes said. “I enjoyed the lacrosse team and players when I went and visited there, and I liked the coach as well.”

Hayes added that she believes playing at a higher level will force her to raise her game.

“I’m excited for it,” she said. “I think I’ll do well with better competition, and I’ll get better because of it.”
