NEV BOYS: Henderson Upsets No. 24 Centennial Again, 16-10

Freshman Kieran Eissler registered a co-game-high five points on four goals and an assist to lead Henderson past No. 24 Centennial for the second time this season, 16-10, in a Southern Nevada Lacrosse Association Division I game Tuesday night.

Jet Harding added three goals, 10 ground balls and went 12-of-23 on face-offs to help the Cougars (8-1) lay claim once again to the state’s No. 2 spot. Connor Morgan finished with four points on two goals and two assists, Miles Mercer and Brandon Knudson each scored twice, and Schyler Bloesma had a goal and an assist.

Tyler Procter and Evan Scheuerlin each scored once to round out the offense for Henderson, which won the ground-ball battle, 41-28.

“Any day, any team in this top division can come out on top over any other team,” Henderson head coach Paul Parasugo said. “It typically comes down to heart, hustle and conditioning. We only have a couple days to reload before we get another crack at Palo. Hopefully, we can get a better result against them this time around.”

In defeat, Blake Krowicki finished with five points on four goals and one assist, and Michael Morse had three points on two goals and an assist for Centennial, which fell to 9-2. The Bulldogs are 0-2 this season against Henderson and 9-0 against everybody else.

Centennial led 2-1 about 10 minutes into the game before Henderson used an eight-goal run to take a 9-2 lead and take complete control in the second quarter. Henderson then extended its lead to 14-6 in the second half.

“To have eight goal scorers shows that we have role players stepping up and contributing,” Parasugo said. “Production like that puts us in a great position to get a W.”
