Memorial senior middie Haleigh Williams has committed to play NCAA Division III lacrosse at Millsaps College.

Williams said she also considered three Pennsylvania schools -- Allegheny, King’s College and East Stroudsburg -- before settling on the Jackson, Miss.-based institution. Millsaps will play its first full-fledged season of NCAA lacrosse in 2011.

“I fell in love with the school when I went to visit,” Williams said. “I thought it would be nice to start a program there and help it grow.”

Williams, who transferred this season to Memorial from Westchester, said she believes the increase in competition will make her a stronger player.

“I’m really excited,” she said. “I had played on Westchester’s team, and that was not the level at which I wanted to play. Now that I’m on Memorial, I feel I’ve grown a lot as a player, and the college-level experience well help me grow even more.”
