MO BOYS: Gerry Leonard Leads CBC Past St. John Vianney
March 23rd, 2010
Senior middie Gerry Leonard registered a game-high seven points on three goals and four assists to lead Christian Brothers to a 12-6 victory over St. John Vianney in a Missouri Scholastic Lacrosse Association Division I game Monday.
Junior attackman Connor Mullen added five points on four goals and one assist, junior attackman Greg Heaghney scored three goals and senior middie Corey Briggs had three points on two goals and an assist to help the Cadets (3-0) win their third straight to start the season.
St. John Vianney (0-1) lost its season opener.
In a game that was not as close as the final score indicates, Christian Brothers rolled to a 7-0 first-quarter lead. The Cadets led 8-1 at halftime and 11-2 at the end of the third quarter before St. John Vianney came back in the fourth to make the final score respectable.
“First half was good,” Christian Brothers head coach Eddie Condon said. “We were much improved. Second half, we took our foot off the gas a little bit too much.”
