MO BOYS: Gerry Leonard Commits to Manhattan College
Christian Brothers senior middie Gerry Leonard has committed to play NCAA Division I lacrosse at Manhattan College.
Leonard said he also considered Robert Morris, Ohio State and Siena before settling on the New York City-based school. Leonard said he picked Manhattan after meeting head coach Tim McIntee, who came to St. Louis for lacrosse camps.
“I grew up in New Jersey until I was 14, and I wanted to get back to the East Coast,” Leonard said. “After Coach Mack came to St. Louis, I became really interested in Manhattan. I love New York City, and also I wanted to continue a LaSallian education.”
When he arrives on campus, Leonard will be the fourth Missouri native and second Christian Brothers alum on the 2011 roster. He will join Erich Smith (Christian Brothers), Chris Kaiser (DeSmet Jesuit) and Tyler Jarvis (Fort Zumwalt).
“It will be a little more challenging,” Leonard said. “The game is completely different, but I think Coach Mack will be able to help me a lot, and there are a couple other CBC boys at Manhattan that I’m sure will be able to help me a lot.”
