NEV HS: Gene Ramos Named New Arbor View Head Coach
December 24th, 2009
Arbor View High School has named Gene Ramos as the head coach of its boys varsity lacrosse team.
Ramos, 36, replaces Eric Scholer, who will stay on with the program in an administrative capacity. Scholer led the Aggies to a 3-9 record last season.
A native of Severn, Md., Ramos played three seasons of college club lacrosse as a defenseman at UNLV from 2002 to 2004. Ramos has coaching experience at the club level, but this will be his first varsity head coaching job.
Arbor View has never had a winning season, and Ramos said he will be focusing on the basics.
“We’re teaching them the sound fundamentals of lacrosse, which they didn’t have previous to this year,” Ramos said. “It’s been night and day. I’ve had them since July, and they’re getting it.”
