TEX BOYS: Fred Addy Commits to Princeton University
October 31st, 2009
St. Mark’s senior middie Fred Addy has committed to play NCAA Division I lacrosse at Princeton University.
Addy said he also considered Navy, Cornell, Army and Brown before he settled on the New Jersey-based school. He will be following in the footsteps of his father, William Addy, who was an All-Ivy League linebacker at Princeton in the early 1980s.
“I’ve been going up there my whole life, and I always really liked the campus,” Fred Addy said. “When I started looking at colleges, I wasn’t really looking at them for lacrosse. Then, this summer, I started getting some looks and Princeton called.
“Ever since I started looking, even before I was getting looks for lacrosse, Princeton was my first choice. It was a dream come true.”
Addy, who is No. 8 among seniors in the latest WSL Elite 25 player rankings, is one of two players from the Dallas area to commit to Princeton. He will be joined by Dallas Jesuit senior Brandon Bonvino.
“I’m really excited for the opportunity,” Addy said. “Not too many Texas kids get this shot. I’m just excited to make the most of it, work my tail off and make an impact at a premier, Division I lacrosse program.”
