WOMEN: Fort Lewis Names Kelsey MacDonald New Coach
August 22nd, 2010
Fort Lewis College has named Kelsey MacDonald as the new head coach of its NCAA Division II women’s lacrosse team.
MacDonald replaces Kelley Quiesser-McPeake, who went 1-18 during the school’s first two seasons as a varsity program.
“Kelsey is uniquely qualified to help us develop into a high quality Division II women’s lacrosse program,” Fort Lewis Athletic Director Kelly Higgins said. “She has an excellent collegiate background as a coach and player. I’m looking forward to working with her.”
MacDonald spent the past two seasons at Wellesley College, where she was an assistant coach prior to serving as interim head coach during the non-traditional fall season in 2009. She also spent five months as an assistant lacrosse coach and strength and conditioning coach at her alma mater, Plymouth State University, in 2008.
As a player, MacDonald played four seasons at Plymouth State from 2004-2007, where she was named Little East Conference Player of the Year as a sophomore, junior and senior.
MacDonald will officially take over Sept. 1.
“I’m very excited to start, meet the girls and get working on the program,” MacDonald said in a news release.
