MEN: Fontbonne Joins New Midwest Lacrosse Conference

Fontbonne University has joined the new six-team Midwest Lacrosse Conference that will begin play in the 2010 season.

The St. Louis-based school will compete against Adrian College, Carthage College, Mount St. Joseph, Trine and the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Fontbonne head coach Nick Silva said.

The new conference will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament starting in 2012, Silva said.

“It’s a great opportunity for our student-athletes to get all-conference accolades, which are not in place as independents,” Silva said. “It’s also going to give our kids the opportunity to play in a conference championship weekend.”
