Cornell-bound senior middie Sten Jernudd of Lakeside and Issaquah junior middie Kevin Powers have made it onto the Swedish national team and will participate in this summer’s World Cup of Lacrosse, according to a report in the Issaquah Press.

The pair tried out in October and are the youngest two players to be selected. Team Sweden will play in the B Division and therefore not compete against top nations such as the United States and Canada.

“I really hope we represent Sweden well in those games,” Powers told the Issaquah Press. “I think it’s really special for me to be selected to play at the World Cup games this summer, being only 17, and having the chance to represent my home country is huge.”
