May 21st, 2010
Manual Arts senior middie Ernesto Melero has committed to play NCAA Division III lacrosse at Tufts University.
Melero said he also considered Bucknell and Lehigh before settling on the Medford, Mass.-based school.
“When I went to visit, I had a strong feel about the team,” Melero said. “Their academics are also tremendously good. The atmosphere was nice, and I enjoyed it up there.”
When he arrives in New England, Melero will become the first player from Manual Arts to ever play NCAA-sanctioned lacrosse.
“I’d like to be a role model for future city lacrosse players,” Melero said. “I’d like them to look at me and be able to know they’re able to achieve great things through lacrosse. They could go to really good schools through this great sport.”
