MEN: Eric Seremet Officially Named New Air Force Head Coach

The Air Force Academy has removed the interim title from Eric Seremet, officially making him the head coach of the school’s men’s lacrosse program.

Seremet led the Falcons to a 7-7 record in 2009 after he served as an assistant from 2002 to 2008. Seremet led Air Force to a second-place finish in the Great Western Lacrosse League.

“I can’t begin to express my excitement at formally announcing Eric Seremet as our head coach,” Air Force Athletic Director Billy Walker said in a news release.

“He’s been a critical member of our staff for eight years and did an unbelievable job as our interim head coach this past season. Eric’s selection, together with our move to the ECAC this upcoming year, has generated a great deal of excitement for Air Force lacrosse.”

As interim coach, Seremet led Air Force to its first .500 season since 1997 and a school-record four GWLL wins. Air Force’s second-place finish in the conference matched the school’s best.

Seremet played four years of NCAA Division I lacrosse at the University of North Carolina from 1989 to 1992. He played professionally in the National Lacrosse League for eight seasons, and he will officially take over for Fred Acee, who is retiring this summer.

“I also can’t say enough about what Fred Acee has done for Air Force lacrosse.” Walker said. “He’s a nationally-respected legend of the sport, and he took our program to unprecedented levels. He and his wife, Linda, are valuable members of the Air Force family, and we’ll miss them greatly.”
