Cy-Fair head coach Chris Haefele describes junior middie Emily Newstrom as “the complete package.”
Her stats back up that description.
During the 2010 season, Newstrom was a force on offense (she scored a team-high 81 goals), on defense (she caused a team-high 30 turnovers), on draws (she had a team-high 39 draw controls) and in the open field (she scooped up a team-high 39 ground balls).
“She has excellent stick skills, plays both ends of the field, power shot, great transition player,” Haefele said. “Her size and speed make her hard to stop.”
Newstrom, who also tallied 15 assists, helped the Iron Maidens go through the regular season undefeated and reach the state championship game, where they lost to St. John’s (a team Cy-Fair had beaten twice). She is WSL’s Texas Girls Player of the Year.
“Emily was instrumental to the team’s success all year,” Haefele said. “In games where she wasn’t getting points, she was picking up the pace in transition and with her defensive effort.”
But it wasn’t too often that Newstrom didn’t pile up points.
After being shut out against Episcopal of Houston, she was “upset,” Haefele said. But “instead of this having a negative impact,” he said, she rebounded with seven goals and one assist in a victory over St. John’s.
It was emblematic of her leadership and her impact on Cy-Fair throughout the season.
“As a team captain, she brings energy and intensity to practice and games,” Haefele said.
Newstrom, who also plays varsity volleyball for Cy-Fair, will be back next season to help Cy-Fair try to complete a run to the state title. After that, Haefele said, she has “an excellent opportunity” to play Division I college lacrosse.

I think this is good,strange & appreciating.....there is no doubt in this that we are now in that kind of world where wer come across different and strange things happening in this world. Innovation is everywhere, personally I am also a fan of innovation, no matter in studies, technologies, science, beauty, fashion (but it should be good for human kind an world).
