ID GIRLS: Emily Guenthner Signs With Lees-McRae College
January 23rd, 2009
Skyview senior attack-middie Emily Guenthner has signed a national letter of intent to play NCAA Division II lacrosse at Lees-McRae College.
Guenthner said she also considered Converse College, UC Davis, Susquehanna, Hartwick and Elmira but settled on the Banner Elk, N.C.-based school after traveling a couple thousand miles to see it.
“When I went for my visit, everything just felt good,” Guenthner said. “Everyone was really friendly, and I meshed with them really well. It just felt like the place to be.”
Guenthner said she hired a private scouting company to help her find a college where she could play. Guenthner, who is one of two female players from Idaho to already commit to NCAA programs for the 2010 season, will be receiving a partial athletic scholarship, she said.
“It will be a challenge, but I’m looking forward to it,” she added. “It’ll be nice to play with players who are a lot better than me.”
