Bowie senior middie Dominic Pizzuti has committed to play NCAA Division II lacrosse at Mesa State College.

Pizzuti said the Grand Junction, Colo.-based school was the only one he seriously considered. Mesa State will take the field for the first time in the spring of 2011.

“Mesa State was my first choice, and when Coach (A.J.) Stevens made me the offer, I just took it and ran with it,” Pizzuti said. “They have the academics I want, I really like the way Coach Stevens is going to run the program and the facilities are second to none.”

Pizzuti said he intends to get bigger, stronger and faster and work on his stick skills over the next year to prepare for the college game.

“I’m a little anxious, but once I get used to the speed I think I should be able to make a smooth transition,” he said.
