Former Great Oak attackman Dillon Bernad has committed to play NCAA Division II lacrosse at Mesa State College.

Bernad said he also considered Arizona State, Arizona, Castleton and Notre Dame de Namur before settling on the fledgling Grand Junction, Colo.-based program that will begin play in the spring of 2011. Bernad is about to enter his freshman year in college.

“The facilities were top notch, and Mr. (A.J.) Stevens had a clear vision of where he wanted the program to be,” Bernad said. “Once I heard where he wanted the program to be, it was a done deal.”

Bernad added that he is pumped to play in college.

“I’m really excited about moving on,” he said. “I’m committed to doing whatever it takes to take my game to the next level.”
