COL BOYS: Denver South, Eaglecrest, Chatfield, C.A. All Win

John Hogsett registered a game-high nine points on seven goals and two assists to lead Denver South to a 13-10 victory over Alexander Dawson in a Colorado High School Activities Association game Monday.

Avery Brown added six points on three goals and three assists, Alec Ellis finished with three points on two goals and one assist and Tyler Jump dished a pair of assists to help Denver South (2-0) win its second straight to start the season. Sam Miller had a goal to round out the offense for the victors.

In defeat, Andrew Ellert scored four goals and had an assist, and Sammy Marquis finished with a goal and an assist for Alexander Dawson (0-1), which lost its season opener.

The game was tied, 3-3, at the end of the first quarter, Denver South led 8-7 at halftime and Denver South led 12-9 going into the final 12 minutes.

EAGLECREST 11, BISHOP MACHEBEUF 6

Darius Mills registered a game-high seven points on six goals and one assist to lead Eaglecrest (2-0) to its second straight win to start the season.

Cole Bartholomew added three goals, and Justin Williams and Keith Burkhart each scored once to round out the offense.

Defensively, goalie Craig Wainwright had a great game, stopping 16 shots.

Bishop Machebeuf (0-2) dropped its second straight to start the season.

Bishop Machebeuf led 3-2 at the end of the first quarter, Eaglecrest led 5-4 at halftime, and Eaglecrest extended its advantage to 8-5 by the end of the third quarter before the teams traded goals in the fourth.

CHATFIELD 15, GRANDVIEW 0

Senior Greg Kelsic registered a game-high five points on two goals and three assists, as Chatfield (2-0) rolled to its second straight win to start the season.

Trace Wollner scored four goals, Nick Nedeau added four points on a goal and three assists and Hayden Kammerzell finished with three points on two goals and an assist for Chatfield.

The game was all Chatfield from the start. Chatfield led 3-0 at the end of the first quarter, 8-0 at halftime and 12-0 at the end of the third quarter.

Grandview (0-1) lost its season opener.

“Chatfield’s definitely a quality team, but we didn’t expect that,” Grandview head coach Fred Boekel said.

COLORADO ACADEMY 16, GREEN MOUNTAIN 0

Grey Schuyler had a game-high five points on three goals and two assists to lead Colorado Academy (1-0) to a comfortable, season-opening win.

Middie Joel Berdie dished a pair of assists and won 8-of-11 face-offs to enable Colorado Academy to dominate possession. Max Allen, Logan Bowen and Josh Hursh all scored twice and had an assist.

Colorado Academy led 4-0 at the end of the first quarter, 7-0 at halftime and 12-0 at the end of the third.
