In a game that had four ties and five lead changes, Denver outlasted the Statesmen despite being outshot, 39-37.

The game was tied, 3-3, at the end of the first quarter, Denver led 8-5 at halftime and the Pioneers led 14-8 at the end of the third quarter.

“I thought the offense today just did a fantastic job,” Denver head coach Bill Tierney said. “They were ready to go, and they shot the lights out against a really good goalie. I thought we played a really solid offensive game. Defensively, we were OK until that last spurt.”
