TEX BOYS: Harker Heights' David Tarsa Commits to Army
January 9th, 2010
Harker Heights senior middie David Tarsa has committed to play NCAA Division I lacrosse at the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Tarsa, who will be the first lacrosse player from Harker Heights to play lacrosse at the Division I level, said Army was the only school he looked at for his higher education.
“Both my parents went to West Point, so I didn’t really consider any other place,” Tarsa said. “When you go to West Point, it’s more than just lacrosse. It’s serving your country. You’ve got to go for the full experience.”
Tarsa, who plays high school on a Division II team in Texas, said playing at the club level will help him transition to the college game. Tarsa spoke from the Adrenaline Challenge in San Diego, where he helped lead Austin ATX to an upset victory over the St. Ignatius Prep club team Saturday morning.
“I was able to play West Coast Starz over the summer, and being able to play in these tournaments really helps you pick up your play,” Tarsa said.
