TEX BOYS: Dallas Jesuit Rolls Past Hillcrest in Opener, 13-2
Junior attackman Buck McClure registered a game-high seven points on five goals and two assists to lead Dallas Jesuit to a decisive 13-2 victory over Hillcrest in a Texas High School Lacrosse League North District game Thursday night.
Junior attackman Richard Sapp added four goals, and junior middie Nic McVay scored three to help the Division I Rangers (1-0) roll in their season opener. Junior middie Sean Pollock had a goal to round out the scoring.
Defensively, Dallas Jesuit got sensational play out of its two goalies, who combined to save 23 shots.
Freshman Dan Morris, playing in his first varsity game, made 15 saves in three quarters. Junior Kenneth Callis came into the game for the final 12 minutes and made eight saves.
“We obviously got unbelievable goaltending from both goalies,” Dallas Jesuit head coach Chris Surran said.
Division II Hillcrest (0-1) lost in its season opener.
Dallas Jesuit led 4-0 at the end of the first quarter, 6-2 at halftime and 10-2 going into the fourth.
“I thought the defense did a great job, and the kids did a decent job on offense,” Surran said. “We have some things we need to work on, but for a first game I thought the kids did great.”
