TEX BOYS: Dallas Episcopal Bumps off No. 19 Dallas Jesuit

Senior attackman Alex Smith and junior attackman Phil Wagley each registered a game-high four points to lead Dallas Episcopal to a 9-5 victory over No. 19 Dallas Jesuit in a Texas High School Lacrosse League North District Division I game Thursday night.
Smith scored three goals and dished an assist, and Wagley finished with two goals and two assists, as the Eagles (6-1) won their second straight.
Junior middie James Collins pitched in three points on a goal and two assists, junior attackman Angus Klamer scored twice and freshman middie Jack Blair had a goal to round out the offense for Dallas Episcopal.
In defeat, freshman goalie Dan Morris saved 10 shots for Dallas Jesuit (5-1), which had its season-opening, five-game winning streak snapped.
Dallas Episcopal led 2-1 at the end of the first quarter, the game was tied, 3-3, at halftime and the Eagles reeled off three straight goals to start the second half and take a 6-3 lead going into the final 12 minutes. Dallas Episcopal was never seriously threatened in the fourth quarter.
“I think it’s a great win for our team,” Dallas Episcopal head coach Kevin Barnicle said. “I’m extremely proud of how we stepped up to a challenge like Jesuit. It’s an overall team win, which we needed going into spring break.”
