Yes at first glance Wheat Ridge had a tough season in 2009 at 8-9. They actually played 8 teams ranked in the Top 10 when they versed them, including two top ranked California teams. They beat Columbine and Monarch (round 1 playoffs) and lost to Faiview and Colorado Academy by 1 goal each. They lost to Chatfield and Arapahoe by blowout scores. The thing people were talking about at the end of the season last year is that the entire team were Sophomores (goalie was a Junior) This year the entire team is returning including two all-state players. In 2010 WRLAX will play a very tough schedule including East, Cherry Creek and Mullen so it will be evident very quick if they are un-deserving of notice.
Wheat Ridge
No offense, but what did Wheat Ridge do last year that should make people wake up and take notice? They were 8-9, played only three top ten teams and lost to all three. Their only game against one of the major powers, Arapahoe, wasn't really much of a game at all, (19-6). If I'm missing something, please explain...

alright of what i have played in the summer fall and early winter this is my prediction
1. Arapahoe, Gunter, Greg, there goalie is pretty good to, srtong defense, attack is solid but besides greg kinda slow
2. Mullen, lot of returning plyers nick ahrens, jake smith, lost some good ones too, but theyyll do great still looked good at dicks sporting goods field tourney
3. Regis, Great D... 3 division 1 recruits i hear?
4. Chatfield, mitch, and greg and connor lewis, and trace wollner, okay d GOOD o, new coach
5. Colorado Academy, played in tournment during summer good d okay o, solid team though
6. creek, played them during the summer, pretty good goalie, quick attack, d is okay not that big but they look solid
7. Columbine, they beat wheat ridge in summer dlc championship by a couple i guess, and new coach, and i hear they have beat mullen twice, all offense though
8. Kent, heard they have a good goalie, but got killed during summer tourneys,
9. fort collins, always up there but dont look like a good o brett newman is looking good
10. wheat ridge, alot alot of talk no hype, okay goalie, one good attackman, okay fogo
11. mountain vista, lost most of key players, but theyll still keep up i think

If you agreed with me in stating that it matters not whether a team wins or loses ... then why would you write earlier on "btw, ....they actually won the game in the above video and they still whined liked a bunch of ill -mannered babies ..." giving me the impression that you felt like if they had lost it might be ok for them to whine?
In any event, I guess we agree to disagree on that point. Also, I do know the stick was not recheck, I'm looking at some home video right now ....um .... where did the coach of the "complaining" team acknowledge the stick was rechecked? I'd like to check my facts for my story. Again, for me, not for everyone in life, it is about the truth.
Also, being a transplant just before last Spring, I guess I am curious... I read several blogs and see what appears to be 1 individual who clearly seems to have a grudge against this team. Why? I presume you must be one of the officials who officiated that game?
Again, my hats off to the 99% of the officials who do this for the love of the sport. For the other 1%, not necessarily you- just in general, move on.

first, whining is poor sportsmanship win or lose. poor sportsmanship is not a lasallian tradition. i know. i graduated from a christian brothers high school.
as for grudges, i'd suggest the coaching staff at the school has a grudge against the official, not the other way around. to my knowledge no offical has posted videos on the internet highlighting idiotic coaching moves (i'm sure scrutiny of your home video would provide ample evidence of this) in an attempt to embarrass the coaching staff at any school.
as for this particular coach admitting the stick was re-checked (it was, i can assure you) this occured during a series of telephone calls that took place between the coach and the president of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Officials Association (RMLOA) regarding this specific incident.
lastly, i'd like to take this opportunity to invite you (or anybody for that matter)to submit your home videos to the RMLOA as they are always looking for videos as teaching tools whether they reflect negatively on the officials or not.

I don't think the point of it was whether the team won or lost. The win or loss is irrelevant. From a journalists perspective it's about the truth.
I heard it said several times by several officials throughout the year - "Why are they complaining? They're winning anyway." I think it matters not whether a team is winning or not, the fact remains that the right calls need to be made irregardless of whether a team is winning or not. Calling a lacrosse game is certainly a tough job, no doubt about it - but you have to do it for the love of the sport and not out of spite for a team(s). Are mistakes going to be made? Absolutely - it's a fast game, but the blatant and easy calls have to be made.
Don't get me wrong, hats off to 99% of you who go out and do the job for the right reasons and take pride and integrity in the job you do. To the other 1%, it's time to move on.
Most HS Varsity programs are filming their games - unfortunately or fortunately, the videographers are concentrating on the game action and not necessarily what the officials are doing during a time out or half-time. In speaking w/ several coaches across the board in the Colorado conferences I think that is about the change next year. It seemed to be a comment I heard over and over from several coaches in several different conferences. Concern over a few officials.
The rest of the story ..... the stick was placed behind the officials back, while the other teams stick was checked. The stick in question was never checked again to see whether the ball rolled out or not. No penalties were called and both sticks were placed back into play.

From a journalists perspective, does it make it ok NOT to make the RIGHT calls just because another team won inspite of the calls? I've heard that several times. "Why are the complaining, they won?" I think that goes to show that one knows they made the wrong call, but it "doesn't matter" because the team won anyway - so no harm, no foul.
I think win or lose, if the right calls were not made, then it should be called out when its happening over and over. Everyone knows that most, if not all Varsity Highschool Lax games are filmed and a reason to be true to yourself and the game. Unfortunately or fortunately, the videographers are more focused on catching the game action, then what the officials do during a time-out or half-time - however, I think that will change next year in speaking with several teams in the Colorado Conferences.

Congratulations to all the teams this year some really great Lax is showing in the state. From my perspective I see that every team better take it one game at a time that to look past anyone is going to cost you. Take at look at some of the defeats whether in state or out of state, HS or College. Leasons should be learned from the past and if they are we will all see the best playoffs in this states history.

Again I would like to restate that nobody in the Heritage program is making such claims as HLax and again would encourage him to stop talking and making us seem arrogant. I dont want to discourage people from posting their predictions for playoffs, but HLax that is hard to do when you have already discredited your own opinion. It may be best to just succumb to reading the comments here.
But @Coach12345, that was low... comments such as this are unnecessary and crude. Nobody in the lacrosse community appreciates such accusations (even in a joking manner).
As for my own opinion, with the random cluster of upsets this season, its hard to predict anything past the second round.
But I believe the most likely Final 4 will be coincidentally the top 4 ranked teams as of now, Arapahoe, Kent, Mullen, and Heritage. But dont count Regis, CC, FoCo, or Vista out of it. As of right now, the state championship is going to the team who has something to prove, the real question, is who will that be?

I can't tell if you hate Fort Collins more then you love your Eagles, but I think it must be close. 18-2 loss coming to Mullen? Rematch loss to Douglas County? Please. Vipers are young, I'll give you that but their close d is every bit as good as yours, their goaltending is better and the attack is no worse then a draw. I'm also here to tell you your mids are no better either. Too bad that game wasn't played. Could have been a really good one.

The folks on this board love what a Heritage homer you are. But it is also tough not to bait you a little bit.
In your march to the state championship, I note that you overlook Heritage's first round game. If the bracket plays out, that would be against # 13 Fairview. Who had Heritage tied up after three quarters and who only lost 10-8. I think the Heritage coaches and players would prefer that you take it one game at a time.

I think the Westside guys are trying to be edgy and controversial with their rankings but in my opinion are only becoming irrelevant. Kent still #1 over Arapahoe? Chatfied?
