TEX BOYS: Cody Solaja Commits to Hofstra

Episcopal School of Dallas senior defenseman Cody Solaja has committed to play NCAA Division I lacrosse at Hofstra University.

Solaja has started since his freshman season, was a U.S. Lacrosse All-American selection as a junior and he always covers the opposing team’s top scoring threat.

“He’s the type of kid that if you give him a responsibility, he’ll carry it out to a T,” Dallas Episcopal head coach Kevin Barnicle said. “He’s the type of kid who takes pride in his positioning on defense. He does not get beat one-on-one. Over the last couple years, he’s become one of the best takeaway defensemen in the state.”

Barnicle said he believes Solaja will excel at the college level.

“I think he’s going to do awesome,” Barnicle said. “The kid is an absolute stud. His work ethic in the weight room and on the field is incredible. I think he’s going to do very well at Hofstra.”
