WOMEN: Claire Hubbard Leads No. 15 Stanford Past Davidson

Senior attack Claire Hubbard registered a game-high six points on one goal and five assists to lead No. 15 Stanford to a 19-7 victory over Davidson in an NCAA Division I game Thursday.

Senior attack-middie Dana Lindsay added five points on four goals and one assist, senior attack Amanda Schwab finished with three points on two goals and one assist and junior middie Karen Nesbitt had three points on a goal and two assists to help the Cardinal improve to 3-2.

Catherine Swanson, Sarah Flynn and Anna Boeri all scored twice, and Lauren Schmidt had a goal and an assist for the Cardinal, who have won two straight.

In defeat, Haley Cook scored a game-high three goals for Davidson, which fell to 1-4.

Stanford outshot Davidson, 32-18, had a 19-9 advantage in draw controls and a 28-19 edge in ground balls.

The Cardinal rolled to a 15-4 halftime lead and were up by as many as 14 at 18-4 after Schmidt scored with 16:08 remaining in the second half.

“I was pleased overall,” Stanford head coach Amy Bokker said. “We were controlling draws, controlling the pace and having good possessions on the attack.”
