MO BOYS: MSLA Playoffs: Christian Brothers Tops Parkway West
Junior middie Tim Cribbin registered a game-high five points on four goals and one assist to lead third-seeded Christian Brothers to a 13-10 victory over sixth-seeded Parkway West in a Missouri Scholastic Lacrosse Association Division I quarterfinal Saturday afternoon.
Senior attackman Nick Condon, junior middie Corey Briggs and junior middie Gerry Leonard all added four points to help the Cadets (19-2) win their sixth straight and advance the Division I state semifinals.
Christian Brothers will next face the winner of Monday’s SLUH-Chaminade quarterfinal. The state semifinals will be played Thursday, May 21.
“It’s going to be a very competitive game,” Christian Brothers head coach Eddie Condon said. “We’re looking forward to whoever we face. We’re very happy to be in the semifinals, and we’re ready to take it to the next level.”
On Saturday, Nick Condon and Briggs each scored three goals and had an assist, and Leonard finished with a goal and three assists.
Defensively, junior goalie Jake Redlingshafer saved 22 shots.
In defeat, senior attackman Andy Boyd and junior middie Doug Roper each had four points on three goals and an assist, and junior attackman Michael Shearman scored twice for Parkway West, which finished the season 10-7.
Parkway West led 3-2 at the end of the first quarter, and the game was tied, 7-7, at halftime.
“I felt like we came out really well and left it all out on the field, which is what I wanted for my team,” Parkway West head coach Pete Stirling said.
Christian Brothers took control in the second half. The Cadets took a 10-8 lead into the fourth quarter and maintained the advantage from there.
“First quarter was very tight,” Eddie Condon said. “We weren’t doing anything right, and we couldn’t pick up ground balls. In the second half, we were able to get some clutch face-offs, and my goalie had 22 saves on 47 shots.”
