MO BOYS: Christian Brothers Knocks off Parkway West, 13-9

Junior goalie Jacob Redlingshafer and junior middie Corey Briggs helped lift Christian Brothers to a 13-9 victory over Parkway West in a Missouri Scholastic Lacrosse Association Division I game Tuesday.

Redlingshafer saved 19 shots, and Briggs won all 13 of his face-offs and added a goal, as Christian Brothers improved to 11-1.

Junior middie Gerry Leonard had a co-game-high six points on three goals and three assists, senior attackman Nick Condon scored five goals and senior attackman Jack Walsh added five points on three goals and two assists.

Sophomore attackman Connor Mullin had a goal to round out the scoring for Christian Brothers, which is ranked No. 2 in Missouri.

“The play of our goalie and absolutely the face-offs were what keyed the win, because that helped us control the flow,” Christian Brothers head coach Eddie Condon said. “Jacob came up big when we needed it.”

In a losing effort, Army-bound senior Andrew Boyd finished with six points on three goals and three assists, Michael Shearman scored four goals and Doug Roper dished three assists for Parkway West, which fell to 5-3.

Christian Brothers stormed out to a 5-0 advantage in the second quarter and led 7-3 at the break. Down 8-4 after three quarters, Parkway West got as close as 10-8 in the fourth, but Christian Brothers pulled away.

“We spent the whole game battling back,” Parkway West Coach Pete Sterling said.
