COL BOYS: Chace Calkin Signs With Manhattan
January 15th, 2009
Mullen senior Chace Calkin has signed a national letter of intent to play NCAA Division I lacrosse at Manhattan College.
Calkin, a 6-foot, 215-pound middie, was a second-team, All-State and first-team, All-Centennial Conference selection last season as a junior. He is a face-off specialist who won more than two-thirds of his draws last season, Mullen head coach Mitch Brin said.
“He’s a very physically imposing player; solid like a fullback, but he’s got quick hands and he’s got all the moves and countermoves,” Brin said. “He’s a great all-around player and a good kid with a great heart and the desire to succeed.”
Brin added that he believes Calkin will be an asset to the Manhattan program.
“I think he’ll do well, because he has the physical tools,” Brin said. “He’s pretty gifted facing off, and he’s only going to get better.”
