March 8th, 2010
Score a win for the state of Louisiana…finally!
Four players registered a co-game-high three points to lead Caddo Magnet to an 8-6 upset victory over Allen in a Texas vs. Louisiana game Sunday afternoon.
Senior attackman Jake Noble, sophomore attackman Brice Lepow and senior middie Grant Patton all registered two goals and an assist, and sophomore attackman Patrick Connor had a goal and two assists, to lead Caddo Magnet (1-3) to its first win of the season and lead the state to its first victory over Texas this year.
Going into the game, Louisiana teams were 0-8 against Texas teams this season.
“I think knocking off a Texas team is huge for us,” Caddo Magnet head coach Michael Brand said. “Today, we really had nothing to lose.”
Allen fell to 2-3.
The game was tied, 3-3, at the end of the first quarter, Caddo Magnet led 5-4 at halftime and the Mustangs led 7-4 at the end of the third quarter. Allen could never close to within closer than two goals throughout the fourth.
“There was no anxiety,” Brand added. “We came out calm and cool and came out of it with a huge win.”
