COL BOYS: C.J. Schmidt Commits to Bates College

Regis Jesuit senior middie C.J. Schmidt has verbally committed to play NCAA Division III lacrosse at Bates College.
Schmidt, who is ranked No. 9 among seniors in the WSL Elite 25, said in a news release that he considered several Division I programs but went with Bates because of the Lewiston, Maine school’s academic reputation.
Other factors that played a role in his decision included the team’s challenging schedule and the school’s head men’s lacrosse coach, Peter Lasagna.
“Coach Lasagna really impressed me with his honesty and vision for their program,” Schmidt said. “My older brother played for him and had the highest respect for his program. I am thrilled to be a Bobcat and look forward to this exciting new challenge.”
