Through all of the hoopla surrounding Coach Mitchell, maybe we should take a look at Coach Brand.

Further, this same coach, through his childish whining and complaining to the leage, an open forum, and to the community of Shreveport has caused another team to lose a game.

Byrd and Captain Shreve were poised to play each other in a rivalry game on April 19th.  Since all district games must be completed by April 17th, and since there would be no city championship, this was going to be a "just for fun game" in which the teams would play for a rivalry trophy.  Historically, since Shreve was founded, these 2 schools have had a huge rivalry.  Whether they are playing football, basketball, baseball, soccer, or lacrosse.  This game draws more fans than any other game.  However, because of the selfishness of Coach Brand, Shreve will have this game cancelled so Coach Brand can get his way. 

Personally, from an outside perspective, I don't think this is justified.  I don't think this is right.  It is taking a game away from the kids.  (Sound familiar Coach Brand?)

I was told that Coach Brand was approached with a different solution by Shreve's coach; however, as of yesterday, he said he would "think about changing it."  Maybe Coach Brand should look in the mirror before he tries bashing another coach on an open forum.  Maybe Coach Brand should learn to "honor the game."  In the words of Westside Lax, "to put it bluntly, Brand's behavior is disgraceful."  Maybe it is time for Coach Brand to step down...
