LOU BOYS: Brother Martin Routs St. Paul's, Dutchtown

Senior attackman Walker Kirkikis registered a game-high eight points on five goals and three assists to lead Brother Martin to a 17-2 victory over St. Paul’s in a Louisiana High School Lacrosse League game Saturday afternoon.

In the second game of a varsity doubleheader for the Crusaders, Kirkikis continued his form from earlier in the day. Kirkikis had 10 goals and seven assists in two wins for Brother Martin, which improved to 3-0.

Against St. Paul’s, junior attackman Grant Rodriguez added six points on four goals and two assists, senior middie Taylor Eilers had three points on two goals and one assist and sophomore middie Donald Davis and senior middie Taylor Meyer each scored twice.

St. Paul’s fell to 0-2.

Brother Martin led 6-0 at the end of the first quarter, 8-1 at halftime and 11-1 at the end of the third quarter.

“We worked hard this past week on clears and ball possession, and today it showed,” Brother Martin head coach Billy Kirkikis said. “We possessed the ball very well, and we controlled the game with our defensive clears.”

In the first game of the doubleheader, Walker Kirkikis had a game-high nine points on five goals and four assists to lead the Crusaders to another lopsided win and spoil the varsity debut for Dutchtown.

Davis added six points on three goals and three assists, and senior attackman Jordan Ramirez had five points on four goals and an assist.

Brother Martin led 9-1 at the end of the first quarter, 13-1 at halftime and 15-1 going into the fourth quarter.

“Both games, we just passed, passed, passed, and the ball never hit the ground,” Billy Kirkikis said. “It was exciting to see our work pay off.”
